1525 Tyndale Matthew Title Page Facsimile Reproduction.

This is a copy of the title page to Matthew from the first edition printing of Tyndale's New Testament. This fragment from 1525 consisting of most of the book of Matthew, is the only first edition Bible known to exist. Tyndale was a bright scholar who knew 7 different languages. After being denied the right to print an English New Testament in England, he went to German and had the Bible sent to England. A good many were gathered up and burned by the church. In 1536 Tyndale was strangled and burned at the stake for his effort to bring he word of God to the English speaking people. His excellent translation from the original Greek has been used in almost all the other English translations that followed. leaf size (4in x 5.75in) Mounted on 8.5 X 11 stock with description for landscape display.
